This year I have tried a few new things. You know I don't think I'll ever be the type of teacher that does the same thing year after year. Why make it easy on myself, right!! So anyway, I decided to do a fun unit on careers. I sent a note home to parents inviting them to come to school and talk about their career. I've had several responses and still more to come.
Can I just say that the presentations were more then I could have even asked for. The kids loved having different family members come in and they were fantastic listeners. It also gave them a chance to practice asking appropriate questions. (an important skill!!!!)
The morning class had Weston's grandpa and Cooper's grandpa. Weston's grandpa talked about being a farmer. He brought great pictures, bags of seeds, corn, and wheat. The kids made butter while he was talking and showing the pictures. He also brought bread, milk and cheese for them to try. They loved it!!!
Have you ever been attacked by 25 kindergartners! Don't worry they only swarm when they like you!
Shake, Shake, Shake! Lets make some butter!
Milk, butter, bread, and cheese! One of the kids said "Four snacks in one day! Wow we are lucky!"
Cooper's grandpa come in and talked about being a construction worker. The kids loved the the pictures of the big, big, big trucks. That was so cool. I personally loved the dump truck with the Utah State emblem on it!

The kids loved the bag full of goodies
We also had Pierce's dad come and he works at Hill Air Force Base as a Radiologist. He brought the coolest x-rays. He had the kids call out a body part and he would pull out the picture and show the kids what it looks like in an X-ray. I was so glad he came! Every year we learn about Mr. X Ray man our alpha friend for the letter Xx. I always wish I had a real x-ray to show the kids what they look like. So his presentation was perfect. Of course I left my camera at home so I don't have any pictures but I wish you could have seen the kids faces as they saw the coolest x-rays.
Thank you for all the parents who have come so far and a thank you in advance to the parents who are still to come! We can't wait!
