February Fun in Kindergarten

February is such a busy month! We have been working on new letters and words. The kids are sounding out words and writing like crazy. We starting off the month with Groundhogs Day. We made our predictions if Phil the Groundhog would see his shadow or not. Then we watched on the Internet to our dismay that we would have six more weeks of winter!!! We decided to enjoy the sun while we had it and went outside to trace our shadows. It kinda looks like a bad episode of COPS or CSI but we traced shadows and played a round of shadow tag. It was a fun day!

Don't move!

Remember to write your name on your shadow! So it doesn't get away!

Soak up that sun while it lasts! Six more weeks of winter is on the way!

It was hard to get the details like fingers!

Guess who!
So proud of our work!

Ta Da!

Hands up!

Strike a pose!
Valentine's Day was a blast. Thank you to all the parents who came to help. Also thanks for the wonderful treats you sent for me. I just finished the treats from Christmas and now I have more to add to my supply! We had fantastic parties in both the morning and the afternoon. Of course my batteries ran out before I got any pictures of the afternoon class. So you'll just have to trust me IT WAS FUN!

The morning class made me a giant card! It was suppose to be a surprise but of course it is too hard to contain. One student told me "Miss Thomas this is a surprise for you, but I'm not going to tell!" I loved it anyway!

We had cookies, doughnuts, and cupcakes. Can you say SUGAR HIGH!
One of the letters we learned about this month was the letter Qq. Our alphafriend for Qq is Queenie Queen. We took turns dressing up like Queenie Queen. We would sing our Queenie Queen song and if Queenie Queen noticed that you were not singing she would stop the song and send you to the dungeon! Then while we practiced writing Qq's, Queenie would walk around to make sure you were writing "quite nicely". If she tapped your paper with the rose you would have to come and show it to me and I would help them fix any mistakes. The kids loved it! We all took turns being Queenie Queen. When Queenie had to go on vacation the King would take over. Even the boys thought it was fun.

Oh no! I hope the king is nicer then Queenie Queen!

The kids thought it was fun to be the teacher for the day!

The original Queenie Queen and one of our Queenie Queens!
