Pop, Daddy, Pappa, Pa, Dad....GEORGE!

Pop, Daddy, Pappa, Pa, Dad....GEORGE! This is a typical way of getting my dads attention.

So as I am thinking about my dad today lots of things come to mind. I though I would just write some of those quick memories so I don't forget them.

I remember when...

  • I would sit on my dads lap at church(usually after getting in trouble) and I remember the rough texture of his suit jacket and the smell of his aftershave.

  • I would pretend to be asleep in the car so he would have to carry me in.

  • My dad and I spending lots of time together at horse shows. He came with me to every show, clinic, or queen contest.
  • I put the horse trailer in the ditch trying to back it up and dad not even getting mad

  • After riding in the Lewiston parade I left a Popsicle in the hole by the saddle horn on my saddle. My dad had to stop in middle of the road to go back and get it out before it melted all over. He got the Popsicle but also got ran over by the horses trying to get it out. Sorry dad!

  • I lost the Hyrum rodeo queen contest after having the ride of my life. I was so upset and really didn't understand what happened. My dad questioned, yelled, swore (i was shocked) and demanded to have the scores looked at. He was right and they tabulate wrong. He had my back!

  • My dad stood up at my sisters wedding reception and publicly announced that my sister Drena was his favorite daughter. He swears that wasn't what he was trying to say but we all knew it was true. :)

  • My dad would wake us up by turning on the light and poking us while making the sound you would make while herding cattle.

  • Whenever my dad wants to get our attention he starts by saying PEOPLE! Listen people, or lets go people, or be quiet people.

  • My dad has an amazing memory. Anything you want to know about anything just ask my dad. Any sports trivia, family history, or Utah/Idaho history he's got down.

  • Dad woke up in the hospital and the first thing he said was "Did you watch those Aggie's play?" Then even after feeling poorly and possibly having a small heart attack he still walked all the way to Romney Stadium to watch his Aggies play. He always has a positive thing to say about the Aggies. He can even find positive thing to say about the football team!
I could go on and on but I'll stop. I love my dad. I'm so grateful that he is still here with us. I am so grateful that he is here to watch his grandchildren grow up and to be a wonderful example to them and to me. Thank you dad for everything you have done for me over the years. I love you so much!

I don't have a lot of male figures in my life. We seem to be a family full of girls so here is a shout out to all my brother-in-laws in our small family. I love you all for being great examples to me. And for bringing all my amazing nieces and nephews in my life.

What a good sport Roger is. He even sang during the family Christmas sing-a-long

I tried to find a better picture of Willie but this is all I could find. I am proud of him because he is trying to make a difference and he represents my Comanche heritage so well!

Jeremiah deserves much praise for everything he did for Sharla during the 5 months of bed rest during her pregnancy. Jeremiah has taken on the huge task of staying at home to take care of the twins. He is such a good dad

My dad at a school play. He never missed any of his grand kids plays. For that matter he never missed one of my school plays and I was only the teacher!

It's so hard to say goodbye

Our last day of school was so full of emotion. I was so glad that we were so busy the last week because I really couldn't think about it all coming to an end.

I started out driving to school that last day of school just remembering everything we have accomplished this year. My heart is so full with pride for those kids. They have grown and changed so much. So of course I didn't make it to school with out bawling the whole way. I sat in the parking lot and said enough! If I show up to class bawling I'm going to freak my kids out. Yea...that didn't work. As I had parents come in and say goodbye and each one has such kind things to say that I just couldn't hold it in.

The last hour of the day my students and I go around and everyone says something nice about each of the students. Then I say something memorable. Right off the bat I couldn't hold it in. So I had to stop and explain happy tears vs sad mad tears.

I just have so much love for each one of those kids. Like I said before each one takes a piece of my heart with them. And the day I don't have any heart left is the day I quit.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree this year. I was overwhelmed with the support and love from the kindergarten parents this year. I've had a lot of trials this year from family health to allowing some not nice comments get under my skin and doubt my abilities as a teacher. The kindness and support from these parents help me get through it all! Thank you for the kind thoughts, cards, and gifts that you have given me this year. I was overwhelmed with your thoughtfulness. I can only hope that the friendships we have developed will continue.

Thank you for a fabulous year!

To my class,I'm glad I was your teacher
I've come to love you so.
I can't believe the end is here.
I hate to see you go.
Remember all the fun we had
And all the things we did,
But most of all remember... You're a very special kid!

This is most of my am and pm class all together. Yes I am soaking wet. That's what happens when 50 something kids gang up on you playing spray bottle tag! I loved it!

Cowboy Up!

So I love the sport of rodeo. Always have and I think I always will. I knew I wanted to incorporate my love of rodeo somehow into teaching. This year I finally did it. We had our first Buffalo Point Kindergarten Rodeo. It was so much fun! We had a grand entry and we even had someone sing the national anthem to start the rodeo. I was so tempted to break out the tiara and sash from the good old days of being a rodeo queen but I controlled it! The kids competed in a wild west water balloon shoot out, barrel racing, cafe roping, flag race, and cowboy dress up. We ate snow cones, and had popcorn. It was a blast. I couldn't have pulled it off if it wasn't for the kindergarten parents that came to help. They were fabulous! I'm looking forward to doing it again next year!

Each table made a team flag and made up a name for the grand entry

I loved the team work as they got dressed like a cowboy

Yum!

Watch out Broadway! Here we come!

I'm playing catch up for some fun things that have happened in the past few weeks of school. First thing was our kindergarten performance. We had so much fun and the kids did so great! This year I was on my own for the performance but I think everything went fantastic. I gave each child a part and some really didn't want to do it, but they all did so great. Every child learned there part and said it perfectly. I was such a proud mama that day. Thank you, Thank you so much to my family who saved my bacon. My sisters came and ran back stage. My nieces and nephews took care of any thing that came up. My mom and dad where in charge of the horse balloon. If the kids sang loud enough for my mom and dad to hear way in the back the balloon would go higher. If the balloon went down the kids knew to sing louder. It worked really well! I didn't have to encourage them to sing out at all. My fabulous nephew was in charge of taking pictures, he did a great job but I didn't very many that turned out great. I'm sure it was my camera and not the operator!

This is my morning class getting ready to go
